Ambereen Sleemi, MD, MPH
Dr. Ambereen Sleemi is a female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgeon (urogynecologist) and a trained obstetric fistula surgeon. She serves as the Executive Director and co-founder of International Medical Response (IMR), a global health organization dedicated to expanding access to safe surgical care in low-resource settings. She is also a member of the executive committee of the International Society for Obstetric Fistula Surgeons (ISOFS).

In 2013, Dr. Sleemi founded the Haitian Women’s Health Collaborative in partnership with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the National Hospital in Port-au-Prince. This initiative has since grown into a larger collaboration between IMR and St. Boniface Hospital in southern Haiti, continuing her commitment to strengthening surgical capacity in the region.
Dr. Sleemi currently leads IMR’s fistula repair programs in Liberia, Malawi, Pakistan, and soon, The Gambia. Her work focuses on medical education, surgical training, and building long-term health equity across the globe.
